Infrared Thermography is a technique that involves the measurement or mapping of surface temperatures as heat flows to/ from and/or through an object. Surface temperature data is displayed on a digital screen, with image capturing capability. Thermal imaging inspections can identify defects, which can lead to equipment failure and energy loss. Typical uses include condition monitoring, electric component inspection, checking for heat leaks in thermal insulation, flaw detection and corrosion damage / metallic thinning / sediment levels.
High resolution IR Thermal imaging cameras are also able to detect the smallest of gas seeps in process and gas compression systems, even before Fire and Gas detection systems can detect their presence. This is an invaluable contribution to the Total Condition Monitoring solution and a reassuring support for the oil and gas, petrochemical and the pharmaceutical industries, in their fight against pipe work fatigue, corrosion and erosion and is the perfect way to support any Hydrocarbon Risk Management Program.
